Why Dew Point?

In terms of air conditioning, dew point is the temperature at which water will collect on the AC coil. Think of an icy glass of water that sweats on a humid day. At this temperature or below, moisture can be extracted from the air. This principle is essential to air conditioning. Dew point can be plotted on a psychrometric chart, which is represented by our logo. Generally, the air that leaves your registers are 55 degrees or below which means that the AC coil is running between 35-45 degrees. If you were to plot this on a chart given your indoor air temperature and relative humidity, you would likely find that it is below the dew point temperature, which means that as air passes across your AC coil air is being cooled and dehumidified.
